19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after March of that year.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to get a title is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on court had led some to question if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
